November 1, 2002 The U.S. is increasingly alone in the world. The U.N. is dominated by 3rd world dictatorships that purport to have moral superiority over the very countries that founded the U.N. The "non-aligned movement" as espoused by Indira Gandhi is a fine example. The U.S. kept these non-aligned countries free and this was their response. They hate the U.S. because it is evil, and because it is good and everything else in between. "Anything anyone can say about the United States is true" said one writer. It's a country the rest of the world loves to hate, and yet it's the most benign world power in history. For the past 60 years, the U.S. has had the military might to destroy or conquer the rest of the world several times over, and yet it has been remarkably restrained. Revisionist idiots focus on the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombs as an "unnecessary" experiment and bray that the U.S. is the only country to have used nuclear weapons. They conveniently disregard the estimated 50 million deaths the Japanese caused in Asia with a military conquest unparalleled in its brutality and the resulting famines and disruptions across China. Germany is only slightly less guilty; an estimated 20-30 million Russians, 6 million Jews, several million Poles and hundreds of thousands of British, American, and other soldiers. Compared to these atrocities, the police actions of the U.S. in Korea, Vietnam, and Central America are pretty minor. So, whose fault is all this anyway? The arabs and the European/US left claim it's all because of Israel. Now, what exactly is Israel? It's a tiny patch of land, comparable to a matchbook in the middle of a football field, and the Arabs simply can't tolerate its existence? Israel is the only country in the region that tolerates multiple religions--yes, they have a couple million Muslims living there, worshipping in mosques, plus Christians, Jews of course, and various other sects. Why then is Israel so feared and hated? Could it be that Israel, like the U.S. itself, proves that diversity, freedom, tolerance and democracy are the key ingredients to success? That through sheer hard work and intelligence, the Jews turned a desert into a nation that exports food, high technology, and artistic achievements? That it makes all the intolerant, backward societies around it look even more medieval? The U.S. will defeat this al-qaeda group; they are not all-powerful. They will annoy us for a while, probably kill quite a few people, but ultimately they will fail, because you can't defeat a democracy as long as one person remains standing. The al-qaedas think they are exploiting U.S. weakness and decadence, when in fact it is their own weakness and decadence--their intolerant, medieval mindset--that will bring about their fall. Just one guy's musings on a Friday afternoon! |
